About this role

You’ll be responsible for safety of staff and production facilities, leading by example through your own safe behaviors and practices. You’ll need to be familiar with standard engineering concepts, practices, and procedures (so a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and at least 5 years of experience is required).

You will use your experience (and sound judgment) to plan and accomplish goals. There’s a variety of complex tasks in this role to keep you challenged, combined with a strong safety focus.

What will your role look like on this project?

You’ll be involved from an early stage with preliminary review of drawing and construction packages for facility construction (P&IDs and E/I). You’ll identify and note changes that could either impact cost or schedule. You’ll work with contractors prior to execution, to ensure all elements of design, cost and scheduling are clear – any potential obstacles are identified and removed.

At execution you’ll approve work permits, attend jobsite tailgate meetings, contractor safety meetings, and review JSAs on location. You’ll coach and guide Fabricators and Constructors in handovers per the Process Flow Diagram. You’ll identify if/when MPL corrections are incomplete, and find resolutions with the fabricator, to bring equipment into compliance. You’ll provide signatures for QA forms, as needed. You’ll review and advise on budgets and change orders as requested by the Project Lead.

On site you’ll be working every day with contractors ensuring correct execution (and that they are tracking progress in SPS). If there are design deviations you’ll alert the Construction Lead and Project Lead promptly. You’ll challenge less than desirable results and work with contractors to achieve expected standards.

There’s a lot of communication needed to ensure the contractor teams are on track together – drilling, shutdown with Operations etc.). You’ll lead walk downs and assist contractors with clearing MPLs.

The strong safety focus means delivering the Company’s schedule of regular safety requirements (TREND observations, EHS audits, Site Assessment Checklist, hazard hunts and JSA Audits on a variety of safety topics).

In this role you will report to a manager or head of a unit/department. You’ll be expected to commit to, and support the Project Lead and management decisions. You’ll be contributing your ideas on efficiency and for conflict resolution. There’s a strong team element in here, focused on achieving collective results.
